wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Daniel 7:8, 20
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.

In Page 2 I interpreted 'the little horn' as  that small mwpe30.jpg (3438 bytes)odern nation in northwest Europe 'West Germany' that existed from 1949-1990 A.D. with its capitol in Bonn during this time.  The 'little horn' (small nation) coming up/among/between the 10 horns (nations of East and West Europe within the old Roman Empire land area) fulfilled Daniel 7:8. During this window of time (1949-1990 A.D.) in history of Germany, Antichrist was born as a Roman Empire land area fulfilling the requirements of Daniel 9:26 which says the future Antichrist will be from the people that destroyed Herod's temple and Jerusalem after Christ was crucified. This invasion is well documented in history as the Romans under Titus in 70 A.D.  After the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification of East and West Germany, modern Germany as before 1949 has its capitol back in Berlin and outside the old Roman Empire land area. The 'little horn' of Daniel has already been fulfilled and there is no need to look for it to appear because it already has come and gone. However 'the little horn' is Daniel's name for Antichrist because he comes from Germany and was born in that window of Germany's modern history when it was only West Germany.                    Daniel introduces the person of Antichrist

8 in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.

Remember now, Daniel's first mention of 'the little horn' is to introduce the nation Antichrist comes from. After Antichrist comes to power the nation is much less important than Antichrist himself. Daniel says in this horn were eyes 'like a man', a 'mouth speaking great things' and a look 'more stout than his fellows'. Notice (verse 8) we have  horn as 'the little horn' but after Antichist makes his presense known Daniel in verse 20 calls him 'that horn' connecting the nation at it's beginning to the man it produces.
8 'Eyes like a man'

Why mention Antichrist as having eyes 'like a man' unless it is a feature that we should look for. As you continue to study Daniel and what Habakkuk says it will become very clear that it is Antichrist's connection with outer space where Satan and his fallen angels dwell that will be the secret to his success and power. This connection is seen when Antichrist makes his amazing debut upon the world stage of political events. Satan is the 'god of this world' (2 Cor 4:4) - the 'prince of the power of the air' (Eph 2:2), who has principalites, powers, thrones, dominions under his rule (Eph 6:12). Satan knows Christ is going to return shortly and he must make his move to insure that the kingdom of darkness remains and the whole world is deceived to his true motives for helping Antichrist to great fame, power, and dominion.

2 COR 4:4
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

EPH2:2
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

EPH 6:12
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

  His '
eyes' may be such that his look will be one of intelligence, as if he were of a superior race - a prototype of evolution of man in progress to a new level in godhood. It could be his look is the product of genetic engineering before hand. Another possibility is that he will be the seed of Satan. This is not out of the realm of possibilities when one studies what God's Word records in Genesis 6:4,5. Here we read, that before the flood of Noah and one of the chief reasons God brought the flood, is because Satan had his fallen angels (here called the sons of God because God had directly created them before they became evil) intermarrying the daughters of men producing an offspring of giants. These giants - men of renown - have become the mythological heroes of the past that have been worshipped in some form down through the ages. If Satan's angels could do that than why not Satan himself produce an offspring. Jesus said in Matt 24:37 that as it were in the days of Noah so shall it be in the last days.

Genesis 6:4,5

4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

Matt 24:37
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be
.

'Eyes' also denotes intelligence. Antichrist may display knowledge given to him directly by Satan that will amaze mankind because he seems to have the answers to global problems that the world leaders can't resolve on their own. Clearly 2 Thess 2:9 tells us Antichrist will rise to power with All of Satans power, and signs and lying wonders.

2 THESS 2:9
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Daniel 8 has much more to add to what is said in Daniel 7 and elsewhere, but we need to build the subject in the order that Daniel presents it.

8 'Mouth speaking great things'

Daniel 11:21,22 speaks of Antichrist, coming in peaceably and obtaining the kingdom (10 horns) by flatteries (by what he says), but yet, finds it necessary to make war as part of these flatteries. Verse 22 says with the arms of a flood they (transgressors) will be destroyed.

21 And in his estate shall stand up a vile person, to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom: but he shall come in peaceably, and obtain the kingdom by flatteries.
22
And with the arms of a flood shall they be overflown from before him, and shall be broken; yea, also the prince of the covenant.

Antichrist, at his rise will bring
under his control three of the 10 horns (East and West Europe) in in the area of Europe that was the Roman Empire land area in his rise to power,(see page 3). Other nations that become part of Antichrist's Empire are not in view in Daniel 7 because they are outside the Roman Empire land area (10 horns) but are covered in Daniel 8. We saw in Daniel 2 and Daniel 7 Antichrist will form an empire larger than the Babylonian, Persian, Grecian, Roman Empires put together.   Daniel 8:25 says Antichrist by peace will destroy many and in the end fight the Prince of peace (Jesus Christ when He visibly returns (see Kingdom)).

25 And through his policy also he shall cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.

20 'Whose look was more stout than his fellows

His fellows would be the leaders of the other nations in Europe - symbolized by the 10 horns. Compared to them he will have the strongest look or the most dominant look.
Habakkuk 2:5 says Antichrist is a proud man who is not content to stay at home but transgresses by wine and Daniel 8:23 tells us he will have a fierce countanence.

Habakkuk 2:5
5 Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people:

Daniel 8:23

23 And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Habakkuk chapter 1 teams up with Daniel about the rise and exploits of Antichrist

The book of Habakkuk, especially chapter 1, parallels Daniel 7 and Daniel 8 and adds great and signifcant detail to the rise and exploits of Antichrist. Habakkuk, first mentions conditions he was greatly burderned by that were spreading over the whole earth just prior to the rise and reign of Antichrist.

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)
Habakkuk 1:1-4
1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear! even cry out unto thee of
violence, and thou wilt not save!
3 Why dost thou shew me
iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
4
Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.

Habakkuk also something spreading over the whole earth and did not even have words for it but call it 'that'. He said (verse 3) that 'that' was raising up strife and contention wherever it went. If 'that' were weapons Habakkuk would have plainly said so in words that we would know.  What I believe he saw was a doctrine or a system that caused strife and contention wherever it went. Habakkuk could have well been talking about a resurgence of communism and totalitarianism and all the adjectives that go along with it that Habakkuk mentions in verse 2,3 and 4 (violence, iniquity, grievance, spoiling, strife, contention, law is slacked, judgment  never go forth, wicked surrounding the righteous and when judgment is made it is
wrong). But today we also have worldwide terrorism that is a new warfare of the 21st century. For those who think communism is dead and Russia no longer a power to contend with see page 3.
  In the study of
Daniel 8, Daniel is given information about Antichrist and it seems that Russia and those will align with her (possibly Iraq, Iran, China?) is setting the stage for the biggest showdown between the greatest might of Western civilization as we know embraced in NATO and those nations that seek to destroy it as the transgressors. It is under these kind of circumstances that Satan produces the Antichrist. Antichrist will rise up against these transgressors and terrorists, defeats them with help from Satan and his angels. Many nations of both East and West Europe join behind him to form the mightiest empire so far in history. This will be a number of years before the rapture in Antichrist's early part of his reign. After the rapture Antichrist is defeated at Christ's visible return back to earth (see kingdom).

Communism in practice
In practice, Communism has varied from one Communist country to another. But until the late 1980's, certain basic features of Communism were shared by all Communist countries.

One of these features was totalitarianism. In totalitarian countries, the government controls almost all aspects of people's lives. Communist countries also were party states. In a party state, the ruling party dominates all government bodies. The countries had centrally planned economies, also called command economies, economies in which the state owned the means of production and the government planned most economic activity. Finally, Communist countries valued cooperation and collective (
group) needs over personal freedom. In other words, they considered the well-being of the state and society to be more important than that
of the individual.
Terrorism worldwide
These are hate groups that may have completly different agendas but work together to attack the infrastructure of a nation or people they hate. Many groups hate Israel and the U.S. because of Judeo/Christian foundations. Others hate West Europe as well as the U.S. because we have a lifestyle that they see as sinful and unholy to their religion and land. What makes them so dangerous is the weapons of mass destruction whether chemical, biological, nuclear they can get their hands on and kill many innocent people. Terrorism often kills people that really have no connection with the terrorists. Many examples of this: 9/11 world trade towers kills almost 3000 people. Plane hijacks, attacks on government buildings, historic sites and so on. Today, many nations are joining together to rid the world of terroism. At the same time, many of these nations allow these terrorists groups to operate out of their own country while they blindly look the other way.

Habakkuk cried out to God and asked how long is God going to let this continue before He would do something about it. God answers Habakkuk and tells Him (Habakkuk 1:5)

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Habakkuk 1:5
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.

  God answers Habakkuk (
Habakkuk 1:5) and tells him that the events connected with Antichrist and the end of the age would be so unbelievable, that if someone were told of the events before they were fulfilled they would not believe it. I find that to be true when I mention Antichrist's connection with outer space where Satan and his angels dwell. Many think I am going to far and read too many science fiction books. Jesus put it another way concerning all the prophetic events of the end of the age. He said all these things will happen in less than one generation (less than 40 years - Matthew 24:33,34).

Matthew 24:33,34
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Daniel, Habakkuk and Jesus are all refering to all the events that will be fulfilled in the Rapture Generation
(see chart below and expanded timeframe chart  for events within each timeframe)

God now tells Habakkuk what he is going to do which goes right along with the whole book of Daniel concerning Antichrist.

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)
Habakkuk 1:5,6
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.

Ye among the heathen
This is addressed to 'ye among the heathen' - in other words christians all over the world. They are told to wonder marvellously at the fulfillment of prophecy in their day before their eyes (verse 5). These prophecies are so amazing that those believers hearing them before their fulfillment  would not believe it (verse 5) even though they are in God's Word. What makes these prophecies so amazing is that many christians will not believe it until it happens. This is because they connect with the rise of Antichrist and his connection with outer space where Satan and his angels dwell. They will be active in a visible star war drama providing visible air war support to help Antichrist land forces defeat the transgressors. Without this kind of air support Antichrist would not be successful. God showed Habakkuk the same order of events concerning Antichrist as God showed Daniel in Daniel 7:8 - the verse we have been studying. First the nation; then the wars; then all eyes on Antichrist; and finally a new and strange god Antichrist will give glory and honor to for his success. This strange god whom the world will be deceived by will be none other than Satan himself.

6: raise up the chaldeans - that bitter and hasty nation

Each prophet Had His own unique identifier name for Antichrist: Daniel - 'the little horn'; Isaiah 'the Assyrian' (Isaiah 10); Paul - 'the man of sin' ( 2 Thessolonians 2); John in Revelations - 'the beast' (Revelations 13). For Habakkuk - it was 'the  Chaldean'. Chaldeans were a warring people that eventually took over Babylonia. Antichrist will do the same. He will make Modern Babylon part of his empire (Daniel 2,). Notice from the article below from World Book Multimedia Enclopedia that the Chaldeans dwelt in Babylonia and excelled in Astrology and study of planets and stars. It is no wonder Daniel picked the Chaldeans as a type or picture of what will be dominant in Antichrist's Empire. Antichrist will be a great builder of cities and promotor of a world religion that embraces all religions and gods (see timeframe 3 under gentiles). What he does is magnify himself and his god above the others and in the end only himself (see Daniel 11:36).

Dan 11:36
And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done.

One of those cities will be Babylon of
Revelations 17,18 right in the heart of the land that was ruled by the Chaldeans (see timeframe 3 page 2 for building of Babylon, see timeframe 5 for Fall of Babylon).

wpe35.jpg (11180 bytes) DANIELnpa1.gif (60653 bytes)

Besides Europe uniting behind Antichrist because of what he has to offer, Antichrist's Empire will include countries like Iran and Iraq. These nations could also align themselves against the West (NATO) with Russia, when the big showdown for who controls East Europe. Daniel has much more to say on Antichrist's conquests, and especially what kind of Satanic power, signs and lying wonders we can expect when Antichrist rises to power. Habakkuk gives us a real insight how Satan's angels give visible star war air support to help Antichrist land forces be successful against the strongholds of the aggressors. All of this will be in Daniel 8, but first we must finish out what Habakkuk and Jesus tells us that goes right along with Daniel 7.

wpe123.jpg (1112 bytes)Habakkuk 1:11
11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.

Habakkuk, like Daniel, ends up with all eyes on the man - the Antichrist. Once Antichrist is successful in warfare, the nations of both East and West Europe put thier weight and loyalty behind him as a prince over the new united Europe which will stretch from the Atlantic to the Ural Mts. Antichrist is never given the honor of being called a king - the best he can do is be a dictator. It is in this sense that the Roman Empire is revived because it was never conquered in the past. Antichrist's Empire is a modern Roman Empire divided up into nations that keep their separate governments and leaders yet pledge their loyalty to the final Ceasar - Antichrist. Yet, Antichrist's dominion is much greater than the Roman Empire area but the nations of Europe (10 horns) will be the heart of that dominion and receive the greatest prosperity.

Shaded area shown full extent of Antichrist's Empire
wpe36.jpg (8690 bytes)

Habakkuk 1:11 says Antichrist will attribute his success to his god. Daniel 11:38,39 confirms this, and says that in his kingdom he will honor the God of forces (this God replaces the Holy Spirit). Daniel 11:39 goes on to say, that Antichrist will acknowledge a new god that he will honor with silver, gold and pleasant things.

Daniel 11:38, 39
38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain.

  Antichrist denies the trinity (
Father, Son, Holy Spirit - 3 persons in one). 1 John 2:18,22 warns of Antichrist to come and says Antichrist will deny the Father-Son relationship in the Godhead.

1 John 2:18,22
18 Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that Antichrist shall come, even now are there many anti- christs; whereby we know that it is the last time.
22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is Antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.

Jesus mentions two signs to look for that connect with the rise of Antichrist and warns of MASSIVE DECEPTION

We studied Habakkuk 1:1-4 where Habakkuk tells us conditions that precede the rise of Antichrist. Jesus mentions two signs (Luke 21:8,9): many 'false christs' and 'wars and commotions' and not to be terrified - it is not the end. These signs accompany the initial rise of Antichrist and all tie in with Daniel 7 and Daniel 8. Jesus said these two signs will precede the rapture. It was the rapture Jesus had in mind when He said 'the time draweth near' (Luke 21:8,9)

Luke 21:8,9
8 And he said, Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and the time draweth near: go ye not therefore after them.
9 But when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

Jesus confrims this again in Luke 21.28 where Jesus says that when these initional signs take place look up for our redemption draweth nigh.

Lu 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

Christians are already redeemed but Jesus is talking about the rapture where our body is redeemed - that is our bodies are changed from a mortal and corruptible body to an immortal and incorruptible body (see rapture verses). Romans 8:23 makes this clear

Romans 8:21-23
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.

23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

What are the initial signs Jesus said we will see before the rapture again?

Take heed that ye be not deceived: for many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ;

When a world crisis faces the Roman Empire land area (East and West Europe - the 10 horns) and all the prophetic players are on stage, Satan will make his move to contact earth (see Daniel 8 on the role of outer space and contact with earth). At this time when these signs from heaven are taking place a host of false christs appear saying 'I am christ'. Many of these saying 'I am Christ' probably are from within the new age movement. They separate Jesus the man from Christ the consciousness that will come upon those to be initiated into the new world order, worldwide new age religion, and a new age Messiah. Satan's signs and lying wonders from space will trigger this movement into it's next phase as these many false christ's appear at one time. Jesus knew this new age movement would be in full swing at the end of the age. For a full study on the new age movement go to your local Christian bookstore and buy a book that exposes them or gp on the web and search for new age movement. These many false Christs is an old strategy of Satan, like the old tale about the person who cried 'wolf' until the real wolf appeared and no one heeded his call. We are told not to be deceived.

ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass; but the end is not by and by.

The second sign Jesus mentions are the wars and rumors of wars. Jesus tells us 'be not terrified - the end is not yet'. It may look like the end of the age but instead of the world being destroyed at this time a vast amount of prophecy will be fulfilled. Antichrist will come to power and defeat the transgressors (review studies above and also Daniel 8).   Antichrist brings the world into a time of false and Satanic peace under the canopy of the gods (his god being Satan the one he exalts the most under the guise of some new and strange god - see Daniel 11:38,39). Paul in 2 Thess 2:9 tells us Antichrist is COMING with ALL POWER, SIGNS and LYING WONDERS. A full study of exactly the nature of these signs and lying wonders that accompany the rise of Antichrist is fullly covered in Daniel 8.

2 Thessolonians 2:9
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

After Jesus gave the two initial signs that would happen before the rapture and both connect with the rise of Antichrist (false christs, wars and rumors of wars - see above comments on Luke 21:8,9), Jesus went on to say in Luke 21:10-35 all the signs that now would follow the rapture. Notice especiall Luke 21:36 to make sure you go up in the rapture because that is the only way you will escape all these things told in Luke 21:10-35

Luke 21:10-36
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man

Lu 21:10 Then said he unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom:
11 And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.
12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings
and rulers for my name's sake.
13 And it shall turn to you for a testimony.
14 Settle it therefore in your hearts, not to meditate before what ye shall answer:
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to gainsay nor resist.
16 And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death.
17 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake.
18 But there shall not an hair of your head perish.
19 In your patience possess ye your souls.
20 ¶ And when ye shall see Jerusalem compassed with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh.
21 Then let them which are in Judaea flee to the mountains; and let them which are in the midst of it depart out; and let not them that are in the countries enter thereinto.
22 For these be the days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.
23 But woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck, in those days! for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of
the Gentiles be fulfilled.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;
26 Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.
29 ¶ And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees;
30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand.
31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.

36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man

Notice verses 16-19 as referring to the great 3 1/2 year christian tribulation period (timeframe 4). Those that go up in the rapture will escape that time of trouble. The other verses listed above are fulfilled during Daniel's 70th week concerning the jews and powers of the heavens shaken (7 year Day of the Lord - timeframe 5). Daniel 7

1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel
had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then
he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
2 Daniel spake and said, I saw in my vision by night, and, behold, the four winds of the heaven strove upon the great sea.
3 And four great beasts came up from the sea, diverse one from another.
4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
5 And behold another beast, a second, like to a bear, and it raised up itself on one side, and it had three ribs in the mouth of it between the teeth of it: and they said thus unto it, Arise, devour much flesh.
6 After this I beheld, and lo another, like a leopard, which had upon the back of it four wings of a fowl; the beast had also four heads; and dominion was given to it.
7 After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.
8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things.
9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
10 A fiery stream issued and came forth frm before him:
thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten
thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the
judgment was set, and the books were opened.
11 I beheld then because of the voice of the great words
which the horn spake: I beheld even till the beast was
slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
12 As concerning the rest of the beasts, they had their
dominion taken away: yet their lives were prolonged for a season and time.
13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.
14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a
kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.
15 I Daniel was grieved in my spirit in the midst of my body, and the visions of my head troubled me.
16 I came near unto one of them that stood by, and asked
him the truth of all this. So he told me, and made me know the interpretation of the things.
17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
18 But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever.
19 Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which
was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;
20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the
other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows.
21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints,
and prevailed against them;
22 Until the Ancient of days came, and judgment was given
to the saints of the most High; and the time came that the saints possessed the kingdom.
23 Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth
kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.
24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings.
25 And he shall speak great words against the most High,
and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.
26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
27 And the kingdom and dominion, and the greatness of the
kingdom under the whole heaven, shall be given to the
people of the saints of the most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.
28 Hitherto is the end of the matter. As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

Habakkuk 1

1 The burden which Habakkuk the prophet did see.
2 O Lord, how long shall I cry, and thou wilt not hear!
even cry out unto thee of violence, and thou wilt not save!
3 Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold
grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention.
4 Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never
go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth.
5 Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder
marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
6 For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and hasty nation, which shall march through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
7 They are terrible and dreadful: their judgment and their dignity shall proceed of themselves.
8 Their horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the evening wolves: and their horsemen shall spread themselves, and their horsemen shall come from far; they shall fly as the eagle that hasteth to eat.
9 They shall come all for violence: their faces shall sup up as the east wind, and they shall gather the captivity as the sand.
10 And they shall scoff at the kings, and the princes shall be a scorn unto them: they shall deride every strong hold; for they shall heap dust, and take it.
11 Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
12 Art thou not from everlasting, O Lord my God, mine Holy One? we shall not die. O Lord, thou hast ordained them for judgment; and, O mighty God, thou hast established them for correction.
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look on iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he?
14 And makest men as the fishes of the sea, as the creeping things, that have no ruler over them?
15 They take up all of them with the angle, they catch them in their net, and gather them in their drag: therefore they rejoice and are glad.
16 Therefore they sacrifice unto their net, and burn incense unto their drag; because by them their portion is fat, and their meat plenteous.
17 Shall they therefore empty their net, and not spare continually to slay the nations?
